END OF SEASON BLOG: 2015
I can’t believe the season is already over. It doesn’t seem like yesterday that I was getting ready for my first race in Pavia.

The past 6 weeks have been so busy. I have travelled to so many races and visited some amazing places.

My first race in August as in Copenhagen, this race I didn’t run as fast as id hoped but the positives from the race gave me confidence I could run well in good conditions. I raced Sara Peterson from Denmark and was only half a second behind her she eventually came 4th at the World Champs so I knew if I could run close to her I can run quickly. I then went to Windsor to compete for my club and ran a 200m, this was a pretty good run so I was then excited to begin my World Championship journey.

First stop was Fukuoka, Japan. The GB team travelled as a team to have last minute training preparation and to recover from jet lag before we were to compete. Typically for each one-hour of time change it takes one day to recover and adjust to the time zone, so we were there for 8 days. I had some really great sessions in Japan. The weather was warm, the track was quick and all I had to think about was training. The hotel was fantastic, they really put a lot of effort into making the food ideal for athletes and the hotel was beautiful.

Three days prior to my heat we flew into Beijing. I was really excited to get into the competition. The Bird’s Nest stadium is an incredible stadium. The track is really quick and the stands are really high so the atmosphere in there is electric.

I was given lane 9 in my heat and I ran the race of my life I knocked 0.5 off my PB and was so happy to run 54.52. I had to try and then focus on my Semi final, I knew that if I ran this time again I would make the final. It just wasn’t to be, I didn’t quite have the legs the next day and I was really disappointed to come in 3rd in my Semi final and miss out on the final.

The year to this point I hadn’t been running as quickly but I knew that I was quick I just wasn’t as strong as I had been in previous years so unfortunately couldn’t run back to back races.

Even running a PB in my heat didn’t make up for the disappointment of not fulfilling my own personal target of making the final. I have more drive and determination to get back to winter training in October and then train hard for the Olympics. This time will be aiming to PB in that final.

I know that I am a championship performer as I have ran many a PB on that stage just this year I ran it a round too early. Had I have ran 54.52 in the semi I would have made the final.

I then made the most of the week I was still in Beijing after my race. It is so exciting cheering for the GB team. I went to visit part of China and experience the country, which sometimes we don’t get to do because we are focused on our event.

When I got back to the UK I had one day here then went to Zurich as travelling reserve for the Diamond League Final. Unfortunately I didn’t get to race and then I went to Zagreb to compete a World Challenge event. This race didn’t quite go to plan but I came 5th, which is probably where I was expected to come but I was still aiming to beat some of the girls who have ran faster than me this year.

So that’s it my season is over and now is the really exciting challenge this year to make the Olympic team! After a season which started late due to a broken foot I know that I have come a long way but the athlete and competitor in me doesn’t accept this and always wanted more.

My dream was always to compete for GB at an Olympic Games so this year I will be doing all I can to achieve that with new goals for me as I want to go there and run the race of my life.
